When TC Cassidy first heard the demo for her new single, “Room For A Stranger”, not only did she instantly love it – but the overall vibe reminded her of the songs she loved by US star, Jo Dee Messina, back in the late 90’s.
“True story!” she laughs. “I remember commenting how apparent the Jo Dee vibes were only to later discover that one of the co-writers was in fact responsible for two of her most well-known songs”.
The co-writer in question is Phil Vassar – not only an outstanding artist in his own right – but the man behind many of the big country hits of the 90’s decade including Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson and Jo Dee’s smash hits, “I’m Alright” and “Bye Bye”.
Like many songs, “Room For A Stranger” started out simply as a title. In the writing room, Vassar got out an old Yamaha keyboard – the very same one he wrote those 90’s hits on – and dialled up a dance groove and Wurlitzer sound. That set the tone for the idea, knowing which lane to send the song down with his co-writers, Angus Gill and Georgia Middleman.
About “Room For A Stranger”, TC says, “It’s fun, flirty and fresh, and takes you back to the days when you’d get your 90’s country groove on!”
“Room For A Stranger” by TC Cassidy is out on Friday 1st November, 2024.
